Child Support
Parents have a financial obligation to support their children. If the parents are not living together, a detemination of each parent's responsibility for that support is necessary. Child support includes basic financial support and contributions toward a child’s health insurance, health expenses and child care.
Child support under the current statutes is determined based upon both parties gross monthly incomes and their parenting time in accordance with the statutory calculator. In the calculation of child support, parenting time has become a important factor not only because it defines a parent's time with their children but because it is utilized in the calculator to determine child support.
